Richard G. Sass
President and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Sass, the founder of iSense, is a third generation product
development and manufacturing entrepreneur, with over forty
years in the wire and cable industry, primarily focused on
medical electronics. Mr. Sass has a history of successful
entrepreneurship, having founded two prior medical
device/enabling technology companies, one of which he sold in
1991 to AMP, a Fortune 500 company, the largest connector
manufacturer in the world. He was successful in taking the
second company public in 2001.
Jane K. Conner, CPA, MBA
Chief Financial Officer
Ms. Conner has served as CFO of iSense 1995. She has served
in various financial roles for emerging businesses over the
past 28 years. Prior to a career in private industry,
Ms. Conner was employed by Deloitte for six years. She has an
MBA from the University of Portland.
Ken Ward, MD
Medical Director & Chief Scientific Officer
Dr. Ward is a clinical diabetologist who has written over 40
articles on diabetes and over 20 years of experience in
glucose sensor research. He joined iSense in 1998, and is
highly respected in the diabetes research field, and a guest
speaker/presenter at technical conferences throughout the
world. Dr. Ward obtained his BA in Chemistry and Biology at
Whittier College, his MD from the University of Colorado
School of Medicine, completed his residency in 1981 at
University of Colorado Affiliated Hospitals and completed his
Fellowship in Diabetes and Endocrinology in 1984 at the
University of Washington.
Bob Bruce, PhD
Director of Biomedical Engineering
Dr. Bruce specializes in hands-on product development and is
experienced in electronic, wireless/RF and embedded software
design. Prior to joining iSense in 2005, Dr. Bruce's
experience includes bringing a number of medical electronic
devices from product definition through design, and into
production. He has received several patents and has authored
multiple publications. Dr. Bruce earned his PhD in Biomedical
Engineering at Duke University and received a B.S. in
Chemistry and Physics from Carlton College.
Jody L. House, ScD
Director of Sensor Development
Dr. House received her doctorate degree from the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology in 1998. Her specialty is electronic
and photonic design for microsensor applications with a
concentration on embedded sensors and microfluidics. Dr House
has been with iSense since 2003. She specializes in biosensor
optimization and characterization, and has been instrumental
in the creation of a broad-ranging knowledge base specific to
the iSense CGM.
Dennis Slomski
Vice President Manufacturing
Mr. Slomski has 23 years of experience in developing medical
products and the high volume processes to manufacture those
products. He was employed by a major diabetes management
company for 13 years, ending as Director of Process
Development. Most recently, he was a Senior Director in R&D
for a discrete blood glucose meter manufacturer prior to
joining iSense in 2007. Mr. Slomski has a BS Degree in
Electrical Engineering from Marquette University and a
B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering/Chemistry from Marquette
University.
Gary Lichttenegger
Director of Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance
Mr. Lichttenegger has over 20 years of experience leading
RA/QA & product development efforts in the medical device
industry. He joined the iSense team in 2005 with a proven
track record of achievements on invasive and implantable
device technology at both development and commercial stage
companies. Mr. Lichttenegger is an inventor on 6 patents, a
former Certified Quality Auditor, and holds a BA in Natural
Science and Business Management from Metro State University.
Ellen Anderson
Senior Scientist
For the past ten years, Ms. Anderson has been dedicated to the
development, fabrication, and optimization of the iSense
miniature biosensor. Having successfully achieved proof of
concept, Ellen now focuses on process improvement. She holds
a degree in Genetics from UC Davis.
In addition to the above management team, which has 50+
combined years at iSense, the company has over twenty other
team members contributing to its success in the areas of
research and development, engineering, manufacturing scale up,
quality and regulatory, human resources, finance, sales &
marketing, and administration.
